Digital Diversity: Improving access to great jobs and places to work to the population in and beyond smart cities.
A truly great business will be one that involves the widest community and which creates better access to work from anywhere.
“Embracing Future Cities”
Venturefest provides a forum for companies embracing Future Cities. It helps them find solutions to technology challenges by identifying fast growth tech companies and startups capable of delivering solutions to those challenges.
Venturefest will explore technologies like communication networks and connectivity, seamless automation, robotics, intelligent buildings, smart building bricks and new breeds of in-home technology. Companies, sponsors, exhibitors and visitors from the region and beyond are invited to participate in a year of activity, beginning on February 3 with our series opener.
“The Venturefest Series”
Ongoing, the Venturefest Series will comprise linked events throughout the year. The events will facilitate further exploration of the themes from our series opener, and deliver activities to support start-ups wanting to develop their solutions in this field. October’s Venturefest Showcase will be the culmination of the Series, and will act as a spotlight for the region’s tech cluster by showcasing the responses to the challenges set out at February’s opening event.
Why Smart Cities?
The unrelenting spread of technology across service providers of all kinds is creating an information revolution which is transforming people’s lives and inevitably creating knock-on impacts on the DNA of cities. Managing and keeping up with the pace of change is a challenge for cities and their administrators.
It is critical that the scope of technological capability is understood and managed. Venturefest Bristol & Bath is creating an eight-month discussion between cities, service providers and technologists in Bristol and Bath to create the vital leadership and vision.
So far it has considered in what way a future city will be smart. It has looked at the areas that make cities tick over, living, infrastructure, energy, transport, money and health and how they are being affected, improved and challenged.
